FLUORIDE
Protect your teeth in just a few minutes.
The American Dental Association recommends that everyone brushes their teeth twice a day, floss once a day and regularly visit your dentist. Additionally, as an extra precaution, you may want to consider using fluoride which is a mineral that strengthens the enamel of your teeth and prevents cavities.
Systemic fluoride is ingested through some of the food and beverages we consume, including the majority of municipal water supplies. This type of fluoride helps create strong enamel as the teeth are forming in children and teenagers. Fluoride can also be applied to your teeth topically through most toothpastes and mouth rinses.
For extra protection, you can have a professional application of fluoride at the end of your regular teeth cleaning appointment. The application process only takes a few minutes and is painless. Your dentist or hygienist can recommend the frequency of fluoride treatment based on the health of your teeth.
If you have questions about which option is best for you or which products are recommended for home use, ask your hygienist or go to the American Dental Association’s website for a list of tested and approved products.
